PROJECT DESCRIPTION

My work focuses on obsession and frustration exploring the space between action and inaction, between goals and wish-fulfilment. Broadly I am interested in how individual responsibility plays into broader historical movements or trends, and specifically how my own actions, wishes, dreams and frustration relate to this particular moment in time.

My research focuses on historical cycles; how political systems and ideologies are created, destroyed and re-manifested. Particularly I am interested in how the stories a culture tells itself about itself, shape how cultural identity is formed and what values shape the political debate. As examples I am looking at Germany, Denmark and the United States. I hope to make a piece of work that in a small way can intervene in how these stories are told and translated into action or inaction.

Materially my focus is on writing, repeated phrases, circles, spheres, black, red, and paper. I am interested in how these materials and concepts can be layered and transformed in ways that denote obsession, frustrations and immaterial wishes
